    Lamar State College Port Arthur never takes the easy road, especially when it concerns a road trip for the men’s basketball team. The Seahawks traveled to the Texas East-West Challenge in Plano on Friday, November 8, to take on one of the top teams in the NJCAA. In spite of putting five players in double-figures, the Seahawk fell by four points, 84-80 in suffering their first loss of the season to Clarendon College.

    Lafayette, Louisiana sophomore Devaughn Thomas, the top returning scorer from last year’s 20-12 team, led Lamar State College Port Arthur to an easy 103-46 win over Houston’s UpTempo Basketball Academy Friday night at the Carl Parker Center in downtown Port Arthur. The 6-foot-7 Thomas, who averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game last season, scored 21 points and pulled four rebounds against the Houstonians.

    Former NJCAA First-Team All-American Colton Weisbrod has signed a professional contract to play basketball for AS Kaysersberg Ammerschwihr BCA. The French-based team competes in the NM1 league in the city of Kaysersberg, France.
