Though LSCPA has more than proven its ability to go big at the plate, especially in the first game of this season's doubleheaders, Friday’s Game 1 turned out to be a defensive battle.

Instead, Laredo took advantage of an offensive explosion coupled with a defensive meltdown by LSCPA to claim a 10-8 win.

    A heartbreaking Game 2 loss meant a split for Lamar State College Port Arthur softball on Thursday afternoon as the Seahawks took a 6-5 win in the first game of the doubleheader against Galveston College before falling 11-8 in the second game at Martin Field. The Seahawks are now 14-19 overall and 5-9 in NJCAA Region 14 play, while Galveston College moves to 11-24 and 6-8. The Hawks welcome Alvin Community College to Port Arthur for a 1 p.m. conference doubleheader Friday. The games mark the final home appearances by the team’s sophomores, who will be honored during a special ceremony after the second game of the day.

Hitting cleanup, Hunt smashed a grand slam in the first inning of Lamar State’s 11-3 victory to begin a Saturday home doubleheader. San Jac responded with an 8-4 win in the nightcap.

The Seahawks, now 10-11 overall and 1-1 in NJCAA Region 14 play, will take on Alvin Community College in Alvin on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
