Seahawks host Blinn in Wednesday matinee

PORT ARTHUR, Texas – The Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks look to get back on the winning track when they host the Blinn College Buccaneers in a Region XIV men's basketball game at the Carl Parker Center at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The Seahawks (6-4 overall, 0-2 Region XIV) dropped a pair of close contests to nationally ranked teams to open Region XIV play. LSCPA dropped a 61-54 home decision to 25th-ranked Panola College last Wednesday before falling to 23rd-ranked Kilgore College by a 72-62 score on the road Saturday evening.

Zion Young leads the Seahawks in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game. Nisani Mendez averages 16.0 ppg, while Isaiah Brooks averages 10.2 ppg. Martins Adonry leads the team in rebounding, averaging 9.9 boards per game while chipping in 8.8 points per game.

Deshawn Ceaser leads Blinn (7-3, 1-1) in scoring with an average of 18.7 points per game.

The teams split the two-game series last season, with the home team winning each time. The Seahawks were 82-76 winners over Blinn at the Carl Parker Center last season as Young poured in a game-high 22 points.

LSCPA is at Tyler Junior College at 4 p.m. Saturday in the final game before the holidays. The Seahawks return home at 4 p.m. Jan. 3 to host Navarro College.
