PORT ARTHUR, Texas – Martins Adonry notched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks rallied for a 67-63 win over visiting Blinn College in a Region XIV men's basketball game on Wednesday.
The Seahawks (7-4 overall, 1-2 Region XIV) trailed 33-27 at halftime before a dominant second-half effort helped snap a two-game skid. Isaiah Brooks, who was held scoreless in the first half, fueled the comeback with 11 points and six rebounds after intermission. Zion Young scored 10 points in the win for LSCPA.
"It was a good team effort," LSCPA coach Lance Madison said. "We struggled a bit in the first half, but I was very proud of the effort we had in the second half."
The Seahawks did a great job in shutting down Dashawn Ceaser, Blinn's leading scorer. Ceaser entered the game averaging 18.7 points per game, but was held to just five points on the evening.
"Before the game I told the team that we needed to hold Ceaser below his average," Madison said. "That was a big key in our win."
Blinn's Connor Sprattley, who was second on the Buccaneers with an average of 14.4 points per game, was held to two points. Desmeon Jones led Blinn (7-4, 1-2) with 22 points.
LSCPA is at Tyler Junior College at 4 p.m. Saturday in the final game before the holidays. The Seahawks return home at 4 p.m. Jan. 3 to host Navarro College.
"Tyler is always a tough place to play at," Madison said. "That will be a big test for us to end the semester."
