Seahawks drop road contest at Angelina College

LUFKIN, Texas – Zion Young scored a game-high 20 points, but the Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks dropped a 62-56 decision to host Angelina College in a Region XIV men's basketball game Wednesday night.
 
The Seahawks (10-8 overall, 4-6 Region XIV) led 34-25 at halftime, but went cold after intermission, not making a field goal until Young drained a 3-pointer with 10:17 remaining in the second half. Young finished the night 7-of-9 from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range.
 
Christian Andrews had 12 points for the Seahawks, while J'Mar Franklin added 10 points and a game-high five assists.
 
Clarence Payia led Angelina College (10-8, 4-6) with 16 points. The Roadrunners held a 32-16 rebounding advantage over LSCPA.
 
The Seahawks are scheduled to play at Paris College at noon Saturday, weather permitting. LSCPA returns home to host Lee College at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Carl Parker Multipurpose Center.
