Franklin’s last-second heroics lead Seahawks past Blinn

BRENHAM, Texas – J'Mar Franklin drained a pair of free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining to give the Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks a 66-65 road victory over the Blinn College Buccaneers in a Region XIV men's basketball game Wednesday night.
 
Blinn led 65-64 with 11 seconds remaining but missed the front end of a one-and-one. Franklin was fouled in the dying seconds to set up his game-winning heroics.
 
Zion Young led the Seahawks (12-13 overall, 6-11 Region XIV) with 20 points. Christian Andrews added 16 points, while Martins Adonry chipped in with 10 points in the victory as the Seahawks swept the two-game season series from the Buccaneers (17-9, 11-7). LSCPA claimed a 67-63 win over Blinn at the Carl A. Parker Multipurpose Center on Dec.10.
 
The Seahawks drained nine 3-pointers on Wednesday, with Young connecting six times from downtown and Andrews netting the other three trifectas.
 
LSCPA returns home to host the Kilgore College Rangers at 4 p.m. Saturday. Kilgore entered Wednesday's game at Navarro with a 21-3 record while leading Region XIV with a 14-2 mark.
