Seahawks claim first win of season in 7-2 decision

After falling behind by a run after two innings, the Seahawks came roaring back to score seven runs in a 7-2 final over Texas A&M-San Antonio in the first day of the Seguin Tournament.

The Seahawks moved to 1-5 on the season with the win.

After TAMU-San Antonio took advantage of a Seahawks fielding error to go up 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, LSCPA came back to tie the game in the top of the third.

Riana Tovar was hit by a pitch to reach base, giving Maylin Louvier the opportunity to crush a line drive shot over the center field fence for a 2-1 Seahawks lead.

After a one-two-three defensive inning in the bottom of the third, Seahawk Cameron Niedenthal took a shot over the center field fence for a 3-1 LSCPA lead. Savannah Trahan singled on the next at-bat and Kaitlynn Samarripa doubled her home on a fly ball to center for the 4-1 lead.

With Samarripa and Celeste Salazar, who singled, standing on base, Chaelyn Esquivel tripled to plate two runs for the 6-1 Seahawks lead.

The Hawks increased that lead to 7-1 when Niedenthal singled home Louvier, who had doubled to center earlier in the inning.

TAMU-San Antonio added a final run in the seventh for the 7-2 difference.

Louvier doubled and hit a home run in going 2 for 4, while Samarripa, Esquivel and Niedenthal also had extra-base hits. Trahan picked up a stolen base in the game.

Niedenthal picked up the complete-game victory in the circle, allowing no earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and five walks in seven innings of work.
