The Seahawks missed out on a doubleheader sweep in a marathon 18-17 loss to Texas A&M-San Antonio in the first day of the Seguin Tournament.
The Seahawks out-hit TAMU-San Antonio 22-10 and dominated with a 13-run fourth inning but couldn't battle back after a resurgence by A&M in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
The Hawks picked up 10 extra-base hits in the game, including two home runs by Cameron Niedenthal and two triples by Savannah Trahan. Anissa Gracia, Niedenthal, Bri Ramirez and Trahan each had doubles with Harlie Collier and Ramirez each picking up a home run in the game.
Gracia, Maylin Louvier and Kayci Spittler had stolen bases on the effort.
Niedenthal had five runs batted in, going 4 for 5 with four runs scored, while Collier went 4 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Three pitchers worked the circle with Spittler allowing six runs, five earned, on three hits with four strikeouts and four walks over the first two innings. Kaitlyn Samarripa took the loss after working four innings, with 12 runs crossing, though only three of those were earned. She allowed seven walks and seven hits. Alexa Garza worked the final two-thirds inning.
The second day of the Seguin Tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
