The Seahawks took their second win of the season as they beat Connors State College 8-5 in the Galveston Tournament on Friday.
Playing at the Galveston Tournament, the Hawks took their first win of the day after out-hitting Connors State 12-4 with Riana Tovar going 3-for-3 from the plate and Cameron Niedenthal hitting a home run to lead the offense.
Connors State went up 3-0 until the Seahawks responded with three runs in the bottom of the third.
Tovar led off the third for the Seahawks with a single, followed by singles by Maylin Louvier and Celeste Salazar. Salazar's hard ground ball to center plated both Tovar and Louvier. Savannah Trahan got a two-out single to plate Salazar to tie the game.
The Cowgirls scored two in the top of the fifth to retake the lead at 5-3. In the top of the sixth, the Seahawks responded with four runs, highlighted by a Niedenthal homer.
With one out, Tovar and Anissa Gracia singled, followed by a single by Louvier to plate Tovar and put runners at the corners.
Salazar doubled after Louvier stole second, giving the Seahawks the lead again at 6-5. Niedenthal then launched her two-run homer for the 8-5 LSCPA lead.
Niedenthal worked through the top of the seventh, 1-2-3, as she clinched the win in the circle for the Hawks.
Niedenthal pitched all seven innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts and nine walks.
