Seahawks fall hard, 14-0, to San Jac

After a close battle through three innings, San Jacinto College-South took off on a 14-point run to top the Seahawks 14-0 in six innings at the Galveston College Tournament.

Maylin Louvier went 2 for 3 as the Seahawks managed just five runs in the non-conference game with San Jac. The loss dropped the Hawks to 3-5 for the season leading up to a week off. The Hawks' next games will come at the Sun Chief Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama on February 19-20.

During that tournament, the Seahawks will face Coastal Alabama-South at 12:15 p.m. and Coastal Alabama-East at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 19. They'll conclude that tournament with a 10 a.m. game against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and a 2:30 p.m. game against Bishop State Community College on Saturday, February 20. The Hawks lost to Mississippi Gulf Coast 11-6 earlier this season.

Against San Jacinto College-South, Celeste Salazar, LeeAnn Hinojosa and Riana Tovar accounted for the other three hits of the game for the Hawks.

In the circle, Kaitlyn Smarripa worked five innings, allowing seven runs, six earned, on six hits with seven walks and one strikeout. Alexa Garza allowed three earned runs on one hit with two walks before Chaelyn Esquivel come on in relief. Esquivel allowed three earned runs on one hit with five walks and a strikeout in an inning of work.
