ATHENS,Texas- The Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks battled through a challenging doubleheader against #9 Trinity Valley Community College on Sunday, showing resilience, competitive stretches, and continued development as they prepare for a major road test at the Coyote Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama, this coming weekend.

Game 1: Seahawks Compete Early Before #9 Trinity Valley Community College Pulls Away

Lamar State opened the day with energy, putting runners on base and making solid contact, but #9 Trinity Valley's timely hitting proved decisive in an 11–1 final.

The Seahawks kept the game tight early before Trinity Valley broke through in the second inning on a three‑run double by Taylor Bilderback. Despite the Cardinals adding to their lead in the third, Lamar State continued to battle at the plate, collecting hits from Jalise Martinez, Quinn Zaragoza, Adeija Montalvo, and Sophia Kimble. Jillian Vykukal drove in the Seahawks' lone run.

Kendall Hurt worked 3.1 innings in the circle, competing through a heavy offensive push from Trinity Valley. Defensively, the Seahawks made several strong plays, including clean infield work that prevented further damage in the later innings.

Game 2: Seahawks Strike First and Stay Within Reach

Lamar State came out swinging in the second game, immediately putting pressure on Trinity Valley. Abigail Moreno's fielder's choice brought home the first run of the afternoon, giving the Seahawks early momentum.
After Trinity Valley answered in the second, Lamar State tied the game again in the third when Alyssa Lewis grounded into a fielder's choice. The Seahawks continued to apply pressure throughout the contest, highlighted by a two‑hit performance from Zaragoza at the top of the lineup. Lewis, Marissa Montoya, and Moreno each recorded an RBI.

Aubre Fuller delivered a full six‑inning effort in the circle, allowing just four earned runs while keeping the Seahawks within striking distance for much of the game.

Though Trinity Valley ultimately secured the 7–3 win, Lamar State showed improved offensive rhythm, steadier defensive execution, and the kind of competitive edge that will serve them well moving forward.
