ALVIN, Texas — The Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks answered back with confidence and execution Wednesday, earning a split in a conference doubleheader against Alvin Community College.

Game 1

Lamar State showed early promise in the opener, taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning after capitalizing on an Alvin error. Alyssa Lewis and Jillian Vykukal each recorded hits as the Seahawks applied pressure offensively.

LSCPA maintained control through the first three innings before Alvin used a fourth-inning surge to shift the momentum. Aubre Fuller got the start in the circle for the Seahawks, working four innings and competing through the early portion of the game to keep Lamar State within reach.

Despite the early lead, the Seahawks were unable to recover from the mid-game swing as the Dolphins pulled away for a 10-2 decision.

Game 2

The Seahawks responded immediately in the second game with one of their strongest innings of the day.

After falling behind 1-0, Lamar State erupted for five runs in the top of the second inning. The rally was highlighted by a clutch two-RBI triple from Quinn Zaragoza, giving LSCPA a lead they would not relinquish.

The offensive effort was balanced, with Alyssa Lewis, Marissa Montoya, Jalise Martinez, Zaragoza, Abigail Rutherford, and Abigail Moreno each collecting a hit.

Lamar State also applied constant pressure on the bases, drawing seven walks and stealing eight bases. Lewis and Zaragoza led the way with multiple walks and steals as the Seahawks created scoring opportunities throughout the game.

In the circle, Kendall Hurt delivered a complete-game performance, allowing four runs—only one earned—over seven innings. The defense supported her effort with two double plays, helping shut down Alvin scoring threats as LSCPA secured a 7-4 victory.

The Seahawks return home this weekend to host Blinn College in a conference doubleheader on Saturday, May 2 at Martin Field in Port Arthur. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., with game two scheduled for approximately 3:00–3:30 p.m.
