PENSACOLA, Florida -- Lamar State College Port Arthur fell 105-65 in the first day of the Pensacola State College Thanksgiving Tournament, dropping the decision to Gulf Coast State College at Hartsell Arena on Monday, November 21.

The Hawks, now 4-3 for the season, rained down 3-pointers on Gulf Coast State early in the game, taking a double-digit advantage. That onslaught was led by Avontez Ledet, who finished as the team-high scorer with 14 points.

After that run over the first five minutes, Gulf Coast went to a full-court press that got the better of the Seahawks. Over the span of the first half, the Hawks gave up 16 turnovers while Gulf Coast State committed just one in the same span. Turning those giveaways into points, Gulf Coast State pushed to a 62-37 lead at the halftime break.

Adam Scherbakov, LSCPA's leading scorer so far this season, hit several 3-pointers late in the game to finish with 12 points, while Rashawn Ford Jr. added 10 points.

The Seahawks return to action when they take on the nation's No. 10 team, Northwest Florida State College, in a 3 p.m. matchup on Tuesday, November 22.

Tournament action wraps up Wednesday at 3 p.m. when the Hawks challenge host team Pensacola State College.
