After a 40-point loss in the first day of the Pensacola State College Thanksgiving Classic, it appeared Lamar State College Port Arthur had found the answer to early-season offensive struggles. Not only did the Seahawks lead the nationally ranked Northwest Florida State College Raiders, but they also dominated them.

But down the stretch, the Seahawks were unable to hang on, falling 78-75 in the second day of the Pensacola tourney, dropping LSCPA's record to 4-4 for the season.

Three-point shooting and strong rebounding got the Seahawks ahead early against the No. 10-ranked Raiders plus, it appeared LSCPA had solved the problem beating the full-court press they faced a day earlier against Gulf Coast State College.

As the game against the Raiders wore on, though, NWFS relied on its strong inside game to make the difference in the contest as they outscored LSCPA 41-37 in the second half for the winning difference.

The Seahawks out-shot the Raiders in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage and had fewer turnovers in the game. But the Raiders managed to out-rebound the Hawks 45-25 and shot 20-of-27 from the free throw line while LSCPA hit 8 of 11 from the charity stripe.

Sophomore guard Deuce Guidry led the Seahawks with 19 points, while Adam Scherbakov added 16, Avontez Ledet had 14 points and John Gaines III chipped in 11.
